Placer County permits and rules for portable toilets

In unincorporated Placer County, the Department of Public Works issues and inspects encroachment permits. You need one for anything in a county road easement or right-of-way, including special events and temporary traffic control. A unit on your own driveway or field does not need one. You can apply online or at the Auburn counter, so allow time before your event.

Weather and ground in Placer County

Placer County climbs from about 100 feet near Lincoln to the Sierra. Foothill lots around Newcastle and Meadow Vista are steep, with granite and red clay. We need a flat spot near the road, and we stake units on windy ridges. Winter rain turns clay drives slick, so a gravel pad helps our truck.

Above Colfax, snow can delay service, so we plan visits around storms.

Common porta potty jobs in Placer County

West Placer has some of the largest new home builds in the region, mainly in Roseville and Lincoln. Foothill jobs lean toward custom homes and remodels on big lots. We also serve orchard and mandarin farm crews near Newcastle and Penryn. Ranch weddings and trail races in the Auburn area need units with hand wash stations.

Placer County porta potty questions

Answers to the questions renters across Placer County ask most about access, permits and timing. Each city page has more local answers.

Do you deliver up to Colfax and Foresthill?

We do, but those runs take planning. Call by 10 a.m. for the best chance at same-day. Let us know about steep or dirt drives. That way we send the right truck and plan the spot. Snow days above Colfax may push service back by a day.

Do I need a permit for an event on a county road in Placer?

If your event uses the road or shoulder, Public Works needs to issue an encroachment permit. Special events are on its list of permit types. Units placed on private land next to the road do not need one. Apply early so the permit is ready before event day.

Can a unit sit on a sloped foothill lot?

It can if we find a level spot or build one with blocks. A tipped unit leaks and is unsafe. Show us the flattest spot near the drive, and we will stake the unit if wind is a concern. Gravel or a wood pad also works on soft clay.

Do you serve farm crews during mandarin harvest?

Harvest crews are a regular part of our winter work in Placer. We bring units with hand wash stations for field sanitation. We can move units between orchard blocks on each service visit. Tell us the orchard address and gate codes when you book. Units sit near the packing area or along the farm road.
