Sutter County permits and rules for portable toilets
On Sutter County roads outside city limits, you need an encroachment permit before work in the county right-of-way. That includes a unit on a road shoulder. Permits come from Sutter County Development Services Engineering and are good for six months. Call them at 530-822-7400 with questions.
A unit in your orchard yard or on a private farm road needs no road permit. Keep units out of the road shoulder.

Weather and ground in Sutter County
Sutter County is flat farm ground with orchards, rice and row crops. Summer heat runs past 100 degrees, so crews need units close by and serviced often. Rice fields flood in spring, and farm roads can turn soft. We need a firm, raised spot that stays dry. Levees line the Feather and Sacramento rivers.
Units cannot sit on a levee without the levee district's okay.
Common porta potty jobs in Sutter County
Orchard work is steady here, with peach, prune and walnut harvest from summer into fall. Rice farms need units for planting and harvest crews. Levee repair and flood control projects bring long-term crews. New homes in Yuba City and Live Oak need crew units. Farm weddings and family events in the country often call for flushing units or restroom trailers.
Sutter County porta potty questions
Sutter County renters ask these most before booking. Open any question for the answer.
Can you move units between orchards during harvest?
We can move units between blocks or ranches when your crew moves. Each move is an extra service visit, so tell us your harvest plan up front. We route the moves with our weekly service when we can. Keep a firm, dry spot at each block.
Do I need a permit to put a unit by a county road in Sutter County?
A unit on a county road shoulder needs an encroachment permit from Sutter County Engineering. Put it on your own land and no road permit is needed. Keep it out of irrigation ditches and away from the pavement edge. Call 530-822-7400 if you are unsure.
How fast can you reach Live Oak or Nicolaus?
Most of Sutter County is 35 to 55 miles from Davis by CA-113 and CA-99. Call by 10 a.m. and we can usually deliver the same day. After that, plan on the next morning. Far north stops past Live Oak may come later in the day.
Can a unit go on a levee during flood work?
Units cannot go on a levee slope or crown without the levee district's okay. Most levee jobs have a staging area at the toe or a turnout. We place units there. Give us the project contact so we can confirm the spot before delivery.
